Born on This Mountain
We are KWS-licensed mountain guides from Nanyuki — born at the foot of Mount Kenya, raised in its forests, and dedicated to sharing its magic with the world.
Our Story
Climb Mount Kenya was founded by James Mwangi, a Nanyuki-born mountain guide who grew up watching the twin peaks of Batian and Nelion from his family's farm. After guiding his first trek at age 19, James spent the next 15 years building a team of the most experienced, safety-conscious guides on the mountain. Today, our team has collectively summited Point Lenana over 1,000 times and guided climbers from more than 40 countries.
We started because we believed Mount Kenya deserved better. Too many trekkers were arriving with poorly equipped guides, inadequate safety protocols, and no understanding of the mountain's ecology. We set out to offer world-class guiding with local expertise — combining international safety standards with the intimate mountain knowledge that only comes from growing up on its slopes.
