Travel Guide: Kampala to Mount Kenya
For Ugandan adventurers, Mount Kenya is the most accessible major peak outside the Rwenzoris. Direct flights to Nairobi take just 1.5 hours, and as an EAC citizen you qualify for heavily discounted park fees. The experience is dramatically different from the Rwenzoris — drier, more open moorland, volcanic landscapes, and glacial tarns versus the Rwenzoris' equatorial rain and bog. Many Kampala-based hiking clubs organize annual Mt Kenya expeditions.

- Fly Uganda Airlines or Kenya Airways direct to Nairobi — fastest option
- EAC citizens pay significantly reduced KWS fees with national ID

- Overland via the Busia border is cheap but exhausting — fly if budget allows
- Combine with Nairobi city break and Masai Mara safari
